A pilot scheme for Sport England, three inter-connected projects forming part of a new health village as a focus of wider regeneration.
- The Sports Barn was the first covered Multi-Use Games Area in the UK.
- The Leaf Building provides a management base and training facility, including two large climbing structures set in a new town-centre park.
- South Park was designed in close consultation with the community and includes play areas, a chill-out zone for teenagers and protected green spaces.
- Security and vandalism were major constraints, resolved through robust modern design and careful attention was given to ensure community support for the scheme.
