Two separate projects providing passenger waiting and boarding facilities for both the International Cruise Liner Terminal and the Mersey Ferries Terminal at the world famous Pier Head.
- The cruise liner project involved two buildings, located on either end of the new floating liner pontoon, to receive, shelter and organise the transfer of cruise passengers arriving in Liverpool.
- The second project, also built on a floating tidal pontoon linked to the shore by footbridges, was to design a passenger terminal together with a fire and rescue station providing inshore rescue facilities.
- Both schemes required careful organisation of transfer routes and passenger flows to ensure efficient and speedy transfer of large numbers of passengers whilst maintaining shelter and safety at all times
- The buildings are located in a highly sensitive World Heritage Site and in an extremely challenging exposed marine environment.
