Knowsley Safari has just opened a new and innovative tiger enclosure. Cass Associates has been responsible for the planning and design of this key visitor attraction.

The tiger enclosure is the centrepiece of a foot safari which allows people to experience endangered Amur tigers in a natural environment. The new enclosure is based on a large area of long established woodland.

A peripheral path takes visitors around the full circumference of the enclosure. Along the route there are frequent viewing locations in the form of glazed screens where it is possible to appreciate how the animals connect with the rich habitat of trees and water.

The ambition has been to create a more immersive experience for visitors, giving a closer understanding of both the tiger and the natural world.
