For many years Buxton Water has been bottled at a factory located in the centre of the town, near to its source under The Crescent.
The factory site is constrained and there is no opportunity for expansion. A new facility is needed in order to give the business a sustainable future.
Cass Associates, acting on behalf of Nestlé Waters Ltd, has submitted a planning application for a purpose built facility at Waterswallows Lane in Buxton. The building is around 23,000m2 in extent and is designed to resonate with features in the local landscape – a wave-form roof is an echo of the undulations in the local landscape and the extensive use of local stone will tie the building to its setting. For the first time the bottling plant and associated warehousing will be consolidated onto a single site.
There is a parallel, but linked, planning application for a new pipeline to convey the mineral water over 3.5 kilometres from its source to the new factory. This is an important component to the overall relocation package as an uninterrupted and direct supply of water is at the heart of the Buxton Water brand.
