The first major infrastructure at BAE Systems’ Bishopton site in Scotland has opened, with Cass Associates providing Landscape Architecture support.
A new 1.5km stretch of road serving the northern part of the Dargavel Village development was unveiled earlier in the year.
Designed by the Cass Landscape Architecture team to integrate with the rural character of the surrounding landscape, the scheme for the road incorporated hedgerows, woodland and individual trees. Pedestrian and cycle routes have also been included to connect with the wider landscape.
The practice has been providing Planning, Masterplanning and Landscape architecture services to the Bishopton regeneration project – Scotland’s largest brownfield site – since 1999. The mixed use scheme, which required a suite of planning consents, will see 2,500 homes and 155,000 sq m of employment, retail, community and green infrastructure delivered over a long build period.
