Work has now been completed on the National Trust’s historic landscape at Aira Force on the shores of Ullswater.
The works were derived from a masterplan developed by Cass Associates over the course of 2013 and include the use of local craftsmanship and materials to create new entrances, improved car parking, a new visitor ‘welcome’ building, tree planting and a network of new footpaths offering panoramic views over the Ullswater Valley.
As well as the dramatic waterfalls and beck for which Aira Force is most known, the area also incorporates lake shore meadlowland, open parkland and arboretum and has been owned by the National Trust for more than 100 years.
We’d like to say a special thanks to the National Trust as client for their vision and creativity, and to Pod Space for their work on the Welcome Building, R.G. Parkins and Partners engineers and to the high quality work of the site contractors, Cox and Allen.
