Members of the Cass Associates’ team have proved they’re winners both on and off the field after clinching first and fourth places in the Olympic Relay event at Liverpool’s annual triathlon last weekend.
Peter Hamilton, Simon Richards, Mark Line and Matthew Watson were joined by 2 non-Cass members Helen Spencer and Daniel Rawson splitting into two teams and braving the driving wind and rain to beat off competitors covering Olympic race distances, with a 1500m swim, a 40km bike ride and a 10km run.
Architect Mark and Surveyor Helen donned wetsuits to complete the dock swim, with it being the first time in open water for Mark. Landscape Architect Simon, a keen cyclist, and Landscape Assistant Matthew competed well in the bike ride whilst Senior Planner Peter and Accountant Daniel took the 10km run in their stride.
With an impressive 2 hours 30 minutes 51 seconds under their belt Matthew, Helen and Daniel took the Gold with Mark, Simon and Peter coming in a respectable fourth with their time of 2 hours 45 minutes 52 seconds. Both teams enjoyed a celebratory pint of alcohol-free beer afterwards.
The event was Liverpool’s 4 th Annual Triathlon attracting more than 1,000 entrants.
