Cass Associates has supported The Reader Organisation’s successful bid to Liverpool City Council for a unique development opportunity at The Mansion House, Stable Yard & Coach House in Calderstones Park, Liverpool.
The Reader Organisation secured Preferred Bidder status in January this year, and plans to transform the historic Grade II listed Mansion House, Stable Yard & Coach House in Calderstones Park, Liverpool into The International Centre for Reading and Wellbeing.
The Reader Organisation currently has a licence agreement with Liverpool City Council to use the buildings for meetings, activities and events. Reading activities will begin at The Mansion House from May this year.
At the same time, The Reader Organisation is working with Liverpool City Council and its partners, including Cass Associates, to develop a full Feasibility Plan, aiming to sign a short-term lease with the Council later this year. A long-term lease will then follow, at a date to be agreed. Development will be phased with The International Centre for Reading and Wellbeing expected to be fully operational by 2016.
Two public Open Days on Friday, 12 & Saturday, 13 April open up the building publicly for the first time in 40 years. Cass Associates will work with The Reader Organisation to develop the project to RIBA Stage B, before further work is tendered. Concept design work is due to start in May.
